Glowing Glucose Monitor Developed in Japan

Diabetics, listen up! Scientists in Japan’s Tokyo U. have developed a new glucose monitor, an implant which glows when exposed to high glucose levels. When compared to it’s previous iterations it is said that this has an improvement in both stability and accuracy, as well as being only 1 mm thick and requiring no oxygen to operate. In lab testing indicates the tech to work in mice for 140 days at a time!

So your days of stabbing and testing may soon be over, let me know what you think about it in the comments!

I call this one Mimiko. Means "glowing ear"

Hackers Demo Square Card Skimmer, Black Hat Part 4

If you’ve never heard of the Square for iPhone, then this is going to be a little out of your ballpark. The square is a small device for the iPhone or other mobile device, Which allows you to take credit card payments right from the phone! very useful for legitimate business people or for those looking to get card numbers for personal gain!

the device is basically a card reader! That’s it. And now, researchers at Aperture Laberatories (not including GLaDOS I hope) have proven that with a little extra software, you could have yourself a viable option for card skimming. the software basically converts the card data into a series of sounds, which are fed through the device (which is plugged into the headphone jack) and then unencrypted to display as human readable numbers usable for making card clones!

In other words, watch your back, and don’t use these unless you trust the vendor.

WhiteHat Security hacks into Chrome OS, Black Hat Part 3

Good morning everyone!

I’m afraid ChromeOS users are in for a nasty surprise from our fourth entry from the Black Hat Security conference.

It seems WhiteHat security researchers Matt Johansen and Kyle Osborn, Have found a way to break through Chrome’s security, using extensions.  Because Google has no real approval system for extensions, giving malicious code a perfect spreading ground. However, the vulnerabilities aren’t limited to store extensions, there are issues within the native ones as well, such as the scratch pad. A users cookies and contacts can be found using these gaps in security, The holes have been filled at this point (thank you google) but there may be some yet unknown.

Apology Necessary!

I am sorry to say that TC is unavailable for posting tonight; and everyone can blame me for being his girlfriend and taking his time away for some serious snuggle. So, although I’ve been asked to just inform you that he’ll be posting again tomorrow, I thought I’d still give you something to go on. Read on, please.

Lion OS hits 1,000,000 downloads!

The Lion OS that was just released got one MILLION downloads on its first day out. Jobs seems to be rocking the tech scene. The $29.99 upgrade reached its million point faster than any other OS release in the history of Apple. Since we were so big on it last night, I just had to make the mention that it’s doing incredibly well :).

Joe And Pollee

Today, we here at Technical Confessions wanna have a little laugh, starting with this:

This is Pollee

Can anyone guess what Pollee does? Pollee, is a female urinal! Not to say that it’s a bad concept at all! I’m all for equality, but don’t you think it’d be difficult for anyone, male, female, or otherwise to actually use this? Right now, this specific Female urinal (yes there are others) is only a concept, there are, however, three prototypes “shy,” pictured above, “topless,” a semi private Pollee, and “naked,” in which you’d essentially “pop a mass squat.”

The designers of the Pollee wanted to balance a private and public pee atmosphere. I guess the goal was to maximize speed and minimize embarrassment. So sure it might be a little awkward “dropping trau” next to a stranger to pee but, faster lines mean a little sacrifice ladies!
