Neural Network created at Caltech, Already playing games

Hey guys. Been a bit busy with my side project, missed a post. but in it’s place i give you history in the making.

Basically, looks like a bunch of microscopic string.

Caltech is making history today by creating a primitive form of a brain, called a !neural net! A reactive network made of DNA strands, basically a collection of neurons arranged to fire off when stimulated.

A team led by Lulu Qian, Strung together many DNA strands to create rudimentary bio-mechanical circuitry and by using the four bases of our genetic code in specific sequences, they were able to program a different response based on various inputs.

For a proof of  success they quizzed the primitive brain with a game of 20 questions. the circuit nailed it, every time!

Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet

So, this is the ThinkPad Tablet, Pretty and Practical

Lenovo finally has a release date for it’s upcoming IdeaPad Android tablet. Sporting Honeycomb, a full file explorer, fullsize USB port, and encryption!

So why are everyone’s panties in a bunch about how this slim, slick piece of machinery looks? For one, it looks great, and for two WHO CARES? It’s a business tablet! You can doc edit through Google docs, runs a secure, stable OS and has a sick set of hardware!

Anyway, Lenovo’s ThinkPad Tablet will finally hit retailers’ shelves on August 23rd.

Backlit Puppies Born in Korea

Glow-in-the-dark Greyhounds, bio-luminescent Beagles, night-light Newfoundlands, flourescent Foxhounds and lit-up Labradors!! Now it’s possible.

This is Tegon... And yes, she's glowing.

Using a cloning technique called somatic cell transfer, a puppy in Korea was born bio-luminescent. I believe the scientific term for this is “glowy.”

Can’t you just picture it? Party goers flocking to the back of the room to get the latest in glowing accessories, The Rave Rover!

After four years of research the experiment was a success! The pup fluoresces when exposed to UV light IF it ingests a doxycycline antibiotic. But seriously this is actually a HUGE step in medical engineering!

Cue PETA, I know they’ll be all over this!

Market Shares And Nike+ Contenders

Hey everyone!

I appear to have fallen asleep before finishing my post for last night. so here it is, late but present!

It's all here, clear and concise.

A study was released today indicating that ANDROID, not iOS, is officially the market leader! Only took 3 years. Android is sitting at a nice cushy 39% market share! While Apple slides down to 2nd place with 28% of the market still wrapped around its little finger! RIM’s sliding stocks don’t prevent a cool 3rd place with 20% share of the market! Congratulations Android, on taking the world by storm!

Honestly, I can’t even say I’m surprised, Apple has 4 devices, while the number of Android devices is likely in the hundreds, more variety, more sales. Apple I’m talking to you!

Tell me why in the comment section down below!

Fujitsu Finally Announces IS12T

This is the IS12T, and it will survive your toilet, and possibly your laundry!

Kira had written earlier about a possible august release of a WATERPROOf first release of a mango device, and surprise surprise, she was quite close! Looks like instead the release will be “September or beyond” according to the manufacturer, Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications (long name much guys.)

So all those nights of drink8ing will never again end with a wet, broken toilet phone. Instead, Imagine a wet WORKING toilet phone. Just makes you smile!

The safe to swim device will be equipped with the usual hardwares; Bluetooth (2.1 + EDR) and WiFi (802.11b/g/n). Along with a few beefy goodies like a Qualcomm’s MSM8655 CPU (clock speed unknown, likely 1 GHz), 13.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, and a possible 32 GB Internal Flash Memory for all your ample media.

If you wanna see this colorful, party friendly, machine in more detail here is the link.

And guys and gals, I just want to let you know, I’m working on a bit of a side project, the reason for my shorter recent posts. My apologies to those of you who enjoy my posts, but I assure you it’ll rectify itself soon enough.

RIM Cutting Back

From now on You shall be known as OLD NEWS!!

RIM, RIM, RIM, what are you doing with your life! Laying off 2000 people? Why? Because your unfair, unrefined parental surrogates can’t seem to make a good decision? You disappoint me!

RIM, I’ve said it once I’ll say it again… Shape up, Or ship out… It’s up to you!

Either get back to making phones that are a valid business solution (and not so easy to hack from the inside out.) Or start releasing products that are COMPLETE instead of half finished…

So to all my 10 or so readers out there, please pass this post around until RIM gets a hold of it! They need to be scolded!

Well guys, I wish I had more for you today, but it’s been a slow news week after that Apple release, so that’s today’s Technical Confessions. As always, if you like what you read here, please subscribe and ALWAYS comment!

A Real Wall-E

So unfortunately TC probably won’t post too frequently on Sundays. What will happen instead is one of two things: either I will make a brief post in his stead, or he will do a four-page spread Mondays covering the two days. I don’t have any commitments tonight so I can fill in this time.

Wall-E comes to life!

What we have here is the work of DJ Sures, who has used EZ-B Robot Controller software to make a Wall-E that can pull off some tricks, and has face and voice recognition. The little guy has a camera in one of his eyes, which does diminish the ‘cute’ factor a bit, but the personality Wall-E can have is worth the mod. The robot runs on a AA battery pack.

DJ Sures made a video to show off the software and Wall-E himself. I suggest you check it out.

Apologies on the brevity!

Wet Space And Clogged Space

Hello again guys,

Good to know your eyes are scanning thru these words I write! I so appreciate all the support so far on this endeavor of mine! Thank you for your continued readership!

Think of the blue, as water vapour, and picture it bigger... Hundreds of billions of times bigger. Impressed? Kira was!

This ought be exciting for all you spacies out there, we have officially found the largest and furthest reservoir of  water vapor ever recorded in space. It comes in at about 12 Billion light years away, at the center of black hole APM 08279+5255! And has a record 140 TRILLION times the water content of our oceans! If you ask me, that means that there was likely a large (very large) planet near to it that it is likely still gorging upon. As the beast feasts, it is spewing pure energy, at a rate unheard of before now! The gaping hole in space and time was seen by the Z-Space instrument at California Institute of Technology’s Sub-millimeter Observatory in Hawaii, and I’m hoping I can get some decent pics of this dampened celestial body for my desktop!

Fox Hands out digital Flix to Android Users

Got Android? Get this!

Hey guys, sadly, today’s gonna be a short post. I’ll do my best to get back up to my normal two stories tomorrow, but there weren’t many great stories to pick from,  but I have one here I think you might like.

Looks like 20th Century Fox will be allowing downloads with the purchase of blu-ray discs. The Blu ray  will contain a card linking you to a website where the buyer can sideload a copy of the film to any Android Powered device!

Hopefully this means that companies  are beginning to realize that the digital market is a helping hand, and not a hindrance…

Apology Necessary!

I am sorry to say that TC is unavailable for posting tonight; and everyone can blame me for being his girlfriend and taking his time away for some serious snuggle. So, although I’ve been asked to just inform you that he’ll be posting again tomorrow, I thought I’d still give you something to go on. Read on, please.

Lion OS hits 1,000,000 downloads!

The Lion OS that was just released got one MILLION downloads on its first day out. Jobs seems to be rocking the tech scene. The $29.99 upgrade reached its million point faster than any other OS release in the history of Apple. Since we were so big on it last night, I just had to make the mention that it’s doing incredibly well :).
