Steve Jobs RESIGNS as Apple CEO

Hello again guys, BIG story! Couldn’t wait till tomorrow to break it!

Steve Jobs, the great and powerful leader of an army of Apple soldiers, is resigning as CEO of Apple.

Jobs, at a conference today stated he will be taking on the role of chairman for the multi-billion dollar company, thus ending the most profitable time in the companies history if you ask me…

Steve, upon making his decision wrote this letter for all to read.

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

Now I’ve never been a fanboy of Apple, but this is a dark day in tech. For 35 years Steve has been the bright cheery face of alternative computers! Now where does the public look? Who do we turn to when we have an issue with an Apple product or service, since Steve will no longer be answering customer Emails? Will this mean a lax in the great hardware, software, and service standards of this excellent company? Leave me your opinions in the comment section below!

Steve, I feel I speak for any open minded individual when I say, you will be greatly missed as the lead of a great company.

Fun And Functional Kinect Hacks

Good morning readers!

Today I’m going to show you a little something.

Microsoft Kinect

This is The Kinect for the Xbox 360. Keep in mind however, that what you are about to see is far from the limit. There are many projects running right now which use a Kinect sensor as the interface. Some that will even change lives.

Take, for example the WiGo project. This is a project directed toward the disabled. If you watch here, you’ll see a man in a wheelchair shopping, something we find rather easy, but he’s having a bit of a rough with it! But keep watching and you see the hack… A shopping cart that follows him wherever he goes! of course it’s not perfect yet, but if it makes it to market, it’ll make life easier for the disabled, and others likewise.

One for fun next? Okay, if you look here you’ll see a FULLY automated flying drone, which see’s in 3D and can actually navigate around obstacles without assistance! hows that for cool?

What’s next? Monkey see monkey do?

Wet Space And Clogged Space

Hello again guys,

Good to know your eyes are scanning thru these words I write! I so appreciate all the support so far on this endeavor of mine! Thank you for your continued readership!

Think of the blue, as water vapour, and picture it bigger... Hundreds of billions of times bigger. Impressed? Kira was!

This ought be exciting for all you spacies out there, we have officially found the largest and furthest reservoir of  water vapor ever recorded in space. It comes in at about 12 Billion light years away, at the center of black hole APM 08279+5255! And has a record 140 TRILLION times the water content of our oceans! If you ask me, that means that there was likely a large (very large) planet near to it that it is likely still gorging upon. As the beast feasts, it is spewing pure energy, at a rate unheard of before now! The gaping hole in space and time was seen by the Z-Space instrument at California Institute of Technology’s Sub-millimeter Observatory in Hawaii, and I’m hoping I can get some decent pics of this dampened celestial body for my desktop!

Kira here, got the guts to make my own account. So today is apparently the big Apple everything. Right? So I have some news….

Chromium OS on MacBook Air...

Wait a minute, what?!? From the little I know about this, it shouldn’t work. But it can, and does. Almost everything works as normal, except for Bluetooth. The downfalls to this are that there is no dual-boot option.

just one.

And you lose the OS X. But since your system is out of date anyways, it may not be such a bad thing.

This is brought to you courtesy of Hexxeh.

Oh right, and also iTunes is being updated to be fully compatible and perform the best it can with the new Lion OS. There’s something about bits, and windows. The smart review is to be found here.

But what I really wanted to do was take you back, back to where this all started, where Jobs himself got his inspiration. It has been a long and productive process since then, and I think that it’s time to just take a step back and remember…

Apple Hardware Releases!

Hey guys, Technical Confessions is in for a big one today, it’s Apples release day for new hardware AND some new software to go with it, in the form of OS X 10.7 Lion.

So let’s get get started with the new MacMini. Apple has gone ahead with a rebuff, on their sleek little Apple desktop now kickin’ with an Intel Core i5 OR i7 processor, Thunderbolt compatibility, AMD Radeon HD graphics, and Mac OS X Lion stock! Though they seem to have removed the SuperDrive slot!

Pricing starts at $599 for the 2.3GHz Core i5, with Turbo Boost this can be beefed to a fantastic 3.4GHz, when needed!

Apple also announced their server version running the i7 and Lion Server for around $999.

Now that’s beef!

Full specs here.

OS X 10.7 And Sony S1 & S2

Sony Tablet Looking Powerful.

Sony’s S1 and S2 Tablets are coming! Sony has released a teaser (see the link below) for the two high-end siblings.

Teaser

Actually the teaser tells us more than you’d think. First off it shows the tablets not only running Honeycomb, but also running games from PSN, and HD video (Green Hornet). This tells us that It’ll be fairly high spec, which in turn tells us it’ll be a fairly high price point… I’d say based on previous Sony hardware around $500+ depending on model.

I’m betting, not only will they be trying to compete with other tablets, but also (with the dual touch tablet) the DS, so possible 3D support, or dedicated dual touch games. They are clearly marketing to the trendy crowd, based on the music, they’ll come pre-loaded with apps and a UI that reflect this. I’m expecting huge social networking integration!
And all this is JUST what’s in the teaser… excluding information given by Sony.
